Water is an integral component of the natural environment and its management is consequently critical for the overall protection of the environment. Due to the irreversible nature of many environmental impacts emanating from human activities, it is essential to exercise precaution in the management of water resources for ensuring their sustainable usage. Considering associated international and comparative jurisprudence is essential for the effective application of the legal instruments available for the management of water resources.
