Industrial Risk, Brazil, 2004

Wednesday 1 December 2004, by Maria Ortiz

Hazardous industrial activities produce detrimental environmental impacts not only at the local or national levels, but also at the broader global level. It is of paramount relevance for legal experts to be adequately informed about the legal responsibilities arising from industrial risks and about the legal instruments available for their effective management. Within this context, the Seminar on Industrial Risk was conducted between 1 and 3 December, 2004, for forty-five magistrates from Belgium, Brazil, Denmark, France and Switzerland.

Objectives
- Familiarisation with the range of environmental hazards arising from industrial activities.
- Experience exchange based on national, regional and international jurisprudence.

Outcomes
- Familiarization with the nature and context of industrial risks and an awareness of relevant jurisprudence.
